Grok’s new standalone AI application is considered to have good design and ease of use
Just as previously rumored, you can now download a standalone app for your iPhone or iPad to access Elon Musk’s Grok AI.
Simple and easy to use
Getting started is easy. Like other chatbot apps, including ChatGPT, you can ask almost anything and get an answer. Optionally, you can take or import photos or files directly from the application. You can also ask the AI to create different images. All answers use the newly launched Grok 2 model.
When you ask a question about the weather or a restaurant, you’ll see an information card. The generated text and images can be easily shared with others on social networks, email, messages, or elsewhere.
You don’t need an account to start using the app, but there is a limit to the number of responses you receive. If you don’t log in to your account, you won’t be able to see responses to previous questions.
Sign in with your X account, email or with Google or Apple. There’s also a lock screen widget for quick access to apps. The app is available to download for free on the App Store.
Expand your Chatbot’s reach
Rumors of a standalone application for Elon Musk’s AI surfaced late last year. In early December, Grok became free for anyone with an X account. Previously, you needed a paid subscription to X, which started at $7/month.
Grok launched in late 2023, but has lagged behind some other popular options in terms of both users and features. Introducing a standalone app that doesn’t require any X accounts can help expand its reach to more users.
Unlike its competitors, Grok has a lot of sarcasm and wit, thanks to Musk’s influence on chatbots.
But although this chatbot is free, it is significantly different from ChatGPT or other chatbots and has some key issues. It has weak ethical safeguards and image creation is very uncensored. It also trains itself using information from X, which is rife with bots and scams.
